Summer Guests

For me, summer always meant dips in the Thompson Street Pool (now Vesuvio Pool). Before they renovated it, it was none too clean, but we all built up our immune systems there and we all lived to tell about it, so no harm done.

Hi all.  Just a quick note to let you know that this summer I will be starting a Guest Post Series.  I have asked a few SoHo old-timers to write a post for The SoHo Memory Project describing their experiences living and/or working in SoHo in the 1970’s.  This series will bring welcome points of view other than my own to this blog, and I invite you all to submit ideas you might have for a post to sohomemory@gmail.com.  I am hoping that with the addition of guest posts, the blog will begin to reflect a true COLLECTIVE MEMORY, rather than my own singular one.  The first post in this series will go up this Saturday, so please stay tuned!

P.S. I am looking for photos of SoHo places that no longer exist—mostly businesses that closed long ago.  If anyone has any photos of FlatsFixed Gallery on West Broadway, Whole Foods on Prince, the bodega on West Broadway and Prince, or any other interesting images from years past, please send them along to me at sohomemory@gmail.com.  Th

anks!
